Fiestas

  • The year starts with the three Kings festival, in January. Three Kings ride into the village, throwing sweets and toys from their decorated vehicle, to the delight of the children.
  • Pamplona Bull Run: last year, hundreds of people, in traditional bull runners outfits, waited nervously for the start …people ran screaming for their lives …being chased by men in typical pantomime bulls costumes!
  • March & April: Easter processions – statues are carried though the tiny village streets on each day or evening of Easter week and always accompanied by at least one band.
  • March brings the annual San Marcos fiesta, with the whole village camping on the beach for the day. A time for BBQs, eggs cooked in intricate pastry patterns, meeting friends and watching the decorated horse carriages pass by.
  • The fiesta Patronales is held every September. Iznajar hosts the oldest festival in Andalucia for this saint and thousands of people come to the village, to take part in the evening procession. Thank you to Sue Scarrott for some of the fiesta Photos
